Between acute crises like the COVID-19 pandemic and longer-running problems like the failure to manage preventable infectious and chronic diseases, global public health has suffered from shortcomings in both the public and private sectors, and in governance at all levels. While there are no one-size-fits-all solutions, investment and policy leadership are key to setting the right priorities and then delivering on them. What will it take to build more resilient health systems, drive financing and access to new drugs, and foster cross-border and -sectoral collaboration toward shared health goals?

Over the past century, humanity has made enormous progress in fighting infectious diseases through improved hygiene and sanitation and the development and deployment of vaccines and therapeutics.
